Choose from three captivating trips throughout the summer:
Water!
June 13 – June 21
Launch into an unforgettable aquatic adventure with Trip 1 – Water as campers spend nine days canoeing a scenic stretch of the Manistee River in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. From learning how to efficiently pack and manage gear for a multi-day river expedition to mastering paddle strokes, river navigation, and campsite setup, campers will build essential canoeing and backcountry skills along the way. Traveling through winding waterways and forested riverbanks, this trip blends hands-on outdoor education with the joy of exploration—building confidence, teamwork, and lasting memories on the water.
Trails!
June 27 – July 5
Step into a captivating journey with Trip 2 – Trails as campers spend nine adventurous days backpacking through the Huron-Manistee National Forests in Michigan. From mastering the art of packing for extended treks to navigating forest trails, varied terrain, and remote campsites, this expedition builds foundational backpacking and backcountry living skills. As campers travel beneath towering pines and across rolling landscapes, they’ll develop resilience, independence, and teamwork—making this a truly immersive and unforgettable backpacking experience.
Rocks!
July 18 – July 26
Climb into a bold and transformative adventure with Trip 3 – Rocks as campers embark on a rock climbing expedition through West Virginia’s most iconic climbing destinations. The journey begins at New River Gorge, where campers set up camp, explore the area, boulder, and build foundational climbing skills before spending a full day climbing and swimming at a nearby waterfall. Midweek, the group travels to Seneca Rocks to take on more technical routes and prepare for a culminating summit climb. For campers who are spiritually and physically ready, the summit ascent marks a powerful capstone to a trip focused on challenge, growth, and confidence—before returning to Red Oak with unforgettable memories forged on the rock.
The Red Oak Adventure Trip offers our older campers a unique opportunity. This summer we will offer three unique sessions each focusing on a different aspect of wilderness adventure.
The 9-day session will begin staying overnight in our cabins at Red Oak Basecamp, where we will learn backpacking, rock-climbing or canoeing basics on our walls, trails and lake. On the third day, we will depart for our out-of-state trip, where we will spend the rest of our time on our adventure before returning to Kirtland. While backpacking or canoeing, campers carry all the necessary gear to live comfortably in the woods, and in groups of 2, set up camp and prepare dinner each night. Our rock climbers will be camping at a basecamp in tents near the base of the climbs.
This is the ultimate camp experience!!
